Add Comment On July 2nd, 2012, Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem opened at Universal Orlando Resort. The ride replaced the former Jimmy Neutron Nicktoon Blast attraction, in the ride we pick up after the movie on the anniversary of the girls adoption, who have also joined Gru in his evil business. Gru has opened up his house to guests so that he may turn human guests into Minions for his next evil plan. There are so many little details and iconic artifacts from the movie that have been duplicated so well enhancing the attraction, here are just a few of them, there are many more to discover.Universal seems to have really started to master the art of bringing a two dimensional film into a three dimensional world. Ever wanted to see what it was like to be with Dorothy and travel to the land of Oz? Disney's Hollywood Studios enables you to get as close to that illusion as possible on The Great Movie Ride the last segment of the ride is a nod to the classic musical and ends in a singalong down the Yellow Brick Road. Have you been on the ride? and Did you know there was suppose to be even more included in this Oz segment than actually exists? That scene from Fantasia was actually suppose to be the twister scene that carries you off to Oz, next time you ride through use your imagination on the curved screen and the wind blowing and you can see how it would of worked perfect. The current ending montage was never meant to be, instead your ride vehicles would enter the room seperated by a wall that would of ran down the length of that big open area that is there now. You would be in the presence of The Great and Powerful Oz and behind the curtain would be your gangster or bandit from earlier in the ride and if you ride it again look at the floor off to the sides of the room and there is some carpeting, along the walls on both sides of the room partition would of been versions of the animatronics seen throughout the ride and were going to take a bow before you left the scene. I would of loved to see this originally planned ending it sounds like it would of been really something better than just watching a montage in a big empty room. Sadly legal issues with Turner and a rising budget for the attraction kept the extra Oz scenes from being included in the final version of the attraction. PHOTOS TO COME SOON Did you watch Prometheus and rediscover the Alien universe and want to explore a small portion of it. Then head over to Disney's Hollywood Studios and hop on board The Great Movie Ride inside you can actually ride through a very well detailed hallway of the Nostromo, see the Aliens slimy muscus dripping behind a scared Ripley and experience an attack from an Alien creature. Then walk around to the AFI Showcase at the exit to the tram tour and see an Alien costume that was actually worn and used in the movie Aliens. MORE INFO AND PHOTOS COMING SOON Have you recently watched "The Muppets" and craving a little more Muppet mayhem? Then you can always visit the gang at the Disney-Hollywood Studios. Inside the studios you can find toward the back left corner of the park a fun little 3-D film called "Muppet Vision" where you are invited to tour Muppet Labs and experience a new scientific breakthrough. The show uses 3-D, audio-animatronics and different special effect to pull you into the world of Muppets. Around Muppet Vision you can also explore a little mini area of the park itself filled with little Muppet gags. There's everything from small funny signs to read to a themed water fountain and a gift shop featuring a set designed after the Happiness Hotel. If you really want to start digging up Muppets at Disney Parks go and google the concept designs for Disney-MGM Studios and you'll be able to read about early ideas park planners had to bring a whole Muppet area to the Studios, including a full scale ride and themed restaurant. |
